Mumbai, September 30, 2025 – Netflix India has once again proven why it stands at the forefront of global storytelling. With 9 prestigious nominations at the Asian Academy Creative Awards (AACA) 2025, Netflix has shown that Indian stories continue to inspire, move, and connect with audiences across the world. This recognition is a moment of pride, as these powerful stories will now represent India at the Grand Awards and Gala Final in Singapore this December.
Black Warrant Leads with Five Nominations
At the heart of this celebration is Black Warrant, a gripping series that captured both critics and audiences alike. Leading the nominations with five honors, it has been recognized for:
- Best Promo or Trailer
- Best Editing (Tanya Chhabria)
- Best Sound (Kunal Sharma)
- Best Screenplay (Satyanshu Singh and Arkesh Ajay)
- Best Cinematography (Saumyananda Sahi)
- Best Actor in a Leading Role (Zahan Kapoor)
The performance of Zahan Kapoor as Sunil Gupta stands tall as one of the highlights of the series. His portrayal of a man who spent decades within Tihar Jail, observing life and death up close, has been described as haunting and unforgettable. Zahan shared, “This role was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Portraying Sunil Gupta was humbling and deeply moving, and being recognized for it feels surreal. I am grateful to the entire team for trusting me with this story.”
Sameer Nair, MD of Applause Entertainment, added a heartfelt note, saying, “Black Warrant has been a truly special journey for us all. These nominations reflect the passion and dedication of the entire team. Seeing Zahan Kapoor get the recognition he deserves makes this even more special.”

Documentaries That Capture Emotions and History
Netflix India’s documentary line-up also brought home major wins at the National level.
- Modern Masters – SS Rajamouli celebrates one of India’s greatest filmmakers and has been nominated for Best Documentary Programme (One-Off).
- The Greatest Rivalry: India vs Pakistan received the nod for Best Documentary Series. The director, Chandradev Bhagat, captured the emotions perfectly: “This is more than cricket—it’s emotion, memory, and history woven together. This recognition belongs to the game, the players, and the fans who keep this rivalry alive.”
- IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, which brings to screen one of the most unforgettable chapters of Indian aviation history, was honored for Best VFX (Dipen Bhaskar and Vivek Dey).
Each of these documentaries highlights India’s ability to tell stories that are deeply local yet universally relatable.

Continuing a Legacy of Excellence
This isn’t Netflix India’s first big moment at the AACA. Just last year, titles like Amar Singh Chamkila, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, The Railway Men, and The Hunt For Veerappan received multiple nominations, with The Hunt For Veerappan even bagging Best Direction (Non-Fiction) at the Gala Finals.
This year, the momentum continues as Netflix India once again steps onto the global stage with a strong mix of drama, documentaries, and true stories that resonate with audiences everywhere.

Looking Ahead: The Global Stage in Singapore
As the Grand Awards in Singapore draw closer, anticipation builds for what could be a historic night for Netflix India. With Black Warrant, Modern Masters – SS Rajamouli, The Greatest Rivalry: India vs Pakistan, and IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, Netflix is not just showcasing Indian content—it is showcasing Indian creativity, emotion, and storytelling power to the world.
